The latest beta build 8820 has brought us a small batch of new Jewelcrafting recipes. This push included a few trinkets, a new gem cut, and some jewelry that is quite incomplete since there are no stats with them.
It has been widely criticized that the new trinkets are quite a bit underpowered for the level they're supposed to be. 100 spell power for 20 seconds every 5 minutes from a trinket at level 80 doesn't mean much, especially considering its level 70 equivalent, the Living Ruby Serpent. Maybe the new trinkets will be greatly improved sooner or later.
The Enchanted Tear is flat +6 to all stats in the form of a unique-equipped, any-color gem, which to some extent means something to you.
Opinions are divided on what will the future go for the new jewelcrafting in the wrath of Lich King. For some, they think it may act well for the profession. Since previously, players with great amount of WoW gold may be granted with more chances to buy mastery of the profession. Now things go otherwise. There will have to be a large investment of time to become a master of your chosen profession, which is probably a good thing.
While others think the other way. Players wonder how long it is going to take a Jewelcrafter to acquire a comprehensive set of designs with this token system.  Someone in the beta saying it will take a week of daily quests to get enough tokens for one pattern, if that is so it could well take years for a Jewelcrafter to get all the designs. Are the tokens only available from the daily quests, or is there some other way to get them?
Only the experience is the best teacher, therefore, you can rest your mind and suspend your criticism until your have gone through the new jewelcrafting in the wrath beta build 8820.
