Recently was soloing in Rolanberry while seeking party on NIN. Killed a Pathfinder who dropped from ffxi Counterfeit Gil. I'm interested in doing the quest that it is used in, so I have been holding on to it.
The description on this item is funny and all, Merchants not taking it because they can see its fake. But what was REALLY funny was the fact that I COULD sell it to an NPC. Something about that just seems wrong. I can't use it to buy anything, but I can sell it for 400 gil (in Whitegate, probably more elsewhere) and use THAT gil to buy things. Can you say "wtf?"... or do NPCs want to complete the quest in Ru'Lude too?!
