Based on a report made by player Sobou over at the WoW Test Realm forums. In Sobou's case, the WoW client was repeatedly getting stuck at "Retrieving Character List" after he had logged out of the PTRs, and was attempting to log into the tournament realms. Blizzard poster Hortus eventually visited the thread with this update.

While the problem is currently resolved, Hortus did note that anybody who may be experiencing similar problems with the WoW client will want to make their report at the thread. The test realm thread's available for viewing via the source link below - just keep on the lookout in case any further updates regarding this matter are announced.
